I'm a bad, bad blogger

Sunday, March 11, 2012

Another month, another blog entry. Oh, and another city! Just two weeks ago, I moved down to San Francisco and it has been all sorts of excellent. Coincidentally, one of my favorite ladies from high school, Melissa, also moved down here shortly after I did and I couldn't be happier! We've been tearing up, chowing down, running around, getting lost, and charming the locals... but mostly eating.

I've met a bunch of new, lovely friends so far and this past week, especially, I've been meeting a ton of nerds, all thanks to James*. Everyone in this town is super nice. Even a bum told me my smile "brings the sun"!

Here are some photos from my Los Angeles trip as well as a few from the Seattle Aquarium with Ardith and Victor.

I really ought to work on taking more pictures here, but lugging around my purse and oftentimes a yoga mat is usually cumbersome enough. Tomorrow is a new day and although it's not going to be so beautiful out, I'll be leaving my mat at home.

Blue bee-chee

I've just returned from another marvelous trip to the beach! An almost secluded waterfront, gorgeous weather, marvelous company... aside from the mosquito carnage, it was a perfect little getaway. Two weekends on the beach in a row isn't a bad way to live, I must say!

Just look at our campsite in its sunkissed glory! Surrounded by the most beautiful trees and teeming with critters.

But now that I've had such an extended vacation, I feel I really oughta buckle down and get work done for next month's show. I also plan to open up portrait commissions in October to make a little extra pocket money (since I quit one of my three jobs last week).

Hopefully I'll be receiving last week's pictures back from ToyCamera tomorrow since Chuseok is over and, if so, I'll post some backdated entries. More will probably be added to this post in later days after I get photos back from the lab. Romin gave me a bunch of rolls of Portra 400NC (my favorite!) as a birthday gift and I'm excited to see what they'll produce!

Now I have a lot of painting to do tomorrow and I'm all tuckered out, so I'll soon be slathering Benadryl onto my comically swollen mosquito bites and hitting the hay. 잘자 친구들!*

* Sleep well, my friends!

Vamos a la playa!

Last weekend on my birthday, we hit up the lovely little beach, Hanagae, on Muuido and this time were visiting its neighbor on Deokjeokdo.

I'll have plenty of pictures when I get my scans back from the lab, but here are a few things I packed for the trip!

Not pictured: Nintendo DS, iPod, sketchbook, cameras, and poi.

Be back with a proper post after the holiday. Happy Chuseok!

Happy birthday to me!

Today I got back from an event that coincided with my birthday, 불타는 사람 (Bultanen Saram*), held at Hanagae Beach, Muuido. Along the way there, we even picked up a new friend who was also celebrating his birthday that day (he even bestowed onto me some fireworks to shoot off later that night).

I went about through most of the event in a purple wig. Laurel and Jameson later gave me the honor of wearing the prized cheetah jumpsuit that was coveted by all. Needless to say, most people didn't recognize me the following morning.

Kat did an incredible job setting this whole thing up and it attracted just the right crowd full of amazing spirits. Made lots of new friends and felt even closer to the ones I came with. I couldn't have asked for a better way to start off Chapter 25 of my Book of Life.
