Baby, be my steady

Last night after work was a typical Monday date night with my sweetheart, Nick. This typically also entails rolling out of bed hung over the next day as I curse myself on the ride to work, shoulder-to-shoulder with similarly post-drunk businessmen on the subway. Typically.

But, of course, the night before is always lovely and totally worth the dreadful morning after.

We met up at the arcade where we, combined, have probably spent more hours at than the duration of Lost. Here I'm sitting in front of the greatest group arcade game of all time, Great Bishi Bashi Champ! Think WarioWare with intense button mashing, muscle men in speedos, pie throwing, exploding pineapples... in Korean.

For din-dins we skipped next door for some 닭갈비 (dakgalbi) because I had the cravings. What is this insane deliciousness? Here is what Wikipedia says about dakgalbi.

"Dak galbi, also romanized dalk galbi, is a popular South Korean dish generally made by stir-frying marinated diced chicken in a gochujang (chili pepper paste) based sauce, and sliced cabbage, sweet potato, scallions, onions and tteok (rice cake) together on a hot plate."

We also got hella ramen and cheese on top like a boss.

Afterward, because I'm a girl with a surprisingly hefty appetite, I demanded ice cream. We have both been trying to put some weight on me after a sudden drop a few months back, so he treated me to one. Suspicion leads me to believe he's actually conducting an experiment to see if an Asian girl can eat her way to a ghetto booty... y'know, for science.

To wrap up the night, it was time for the aforementioned boozing. Now being such a dapper gentleman, he classed up our usual beer and whiskey guzzling with a low-key night at a wine bar with a great view.

Now it's time to pack my bags for vacation tomorrow. Carolina and I will be in Taiwan until Sunday for fun in Taipei and on the beach despite the bleak weather outlook. If there ain't no sunshine, we'll bring it ourselves.

Oh my gosh, I totally forgot that I was going to address that. Yes, I have freakish hitchhiker thumbs. It's one of the many reasons why I have never been good at playing musical instruments.

Wow, they have Great Bishi Bashi Champ in Korea, too? We have it here in an arcade in Brisbane, Australia, but it's a Japanese import machine so it's all in Japanese (luckily I know some, though it wouldn't be hard to figure out how to play if you didn't, I'm sure). Such a fun game!!
